October is Utah Archives Month, a celebration of archives and their important role in preserving records and making them accessible for historical, legal, and administrative uses.
In recognition of this event, the Salt Lake County Archives will be highlighting fascinating record discoveries made by patrons using the County record collections. These “I Found It in the Archives” stories will be featured on this blog throughout the month of October.
We would also be interested in hearing your stories about discovering records in our Archives, and how they may have helped you to tell your neighborhood’s story, your ancestors’ stories, about an important legal document that helped you, or perhaps you found a great historic photograph of your house. Let us know – please post a comment or two throughout the month of October!

Andrea, it is great to know that you enjoyed October’s series of blog entries. I hope that you continue documenting the history of your neighborhood, and continue reading the blog. Thank you again!
I LOVE reading “I Found It”. What a great idea and interesting way to engage people in both what Utah used to look like and cost, and how the County plays a role in it all. It’s inspired me to take more pictures of my neighborhood, too. Someday, a hundred years from now, it may all be different.
