This spring, we had a patron visit our archives to conduct an interesting type of research. He wanted to reconstruct several blocks of downtown Salt Lake as shown in our 1936 Tax Appraisal Cards. The area, near 300 West and 500 South, is now primarily industrial properties and very near to the freeway on-ramp. Through hours of careful research, he recreated a virtual walking tour for his elderly mother and her siblings, who had all grown up in this area.
We want to highlight some beautiful examples of this neighborhood that are no longer standing.
