Utah Archives Month

It’s that time again!   October is Utah Archives Month, part of a national celebration of archives.  Exhibits and lectures related to history and archives are being presented across Utah.

Salt Lake County Archives is hosting an exhibit entitled: “Historic Magna Main Street: A Photographic Exhibit.”   This exhibit will take you on a stroll down the Main Street of Magna as it appeared in 1936.  See the Arbee Smart Beauty Shop, the Pleasant Green Water Company, White Lily Bakery, Central Lumber and Hardware, and Paulos Auto, among other commercial endeavours and houses.  Included are images of Magna residents going about their business.

“Historic Magna Main Street” will be on display during the month of October at the new Magna Public Library (located right on Main Street!):

2675 South 8950 West, Magna, Utah

 Monday-Thursday, 10-9;  Friday-Saturday, 10-6

A sample of the  images that you will see in the exhibit include:

All of the images come from the Tax Appraisal Photographs housed at the Archives.
