Lost House: Herriman

125 North Pioneer Street, Herriman, photograph circa 1938. Tax Appraisal Photographs, serial 41-690.

This house, formerly located at 125 North Pioneer Street in Herriman, was built circa 1883.  The photograph was taken circa 1938, and you can see an employee of the Salt Lake County Assessor’s office at the right. He is holding the chalkboard documenting the tax number for the property.

A stone granary with wood shingles, built circa 1888, a  24 x 63 barn built circa 1898, a 30 x 20 chicken coop built about 1913, and a garage with a dirt floor built about 1908 make up the outbuildings on the property in 1938.

In 1957, improvements were made to the house, but by May 28, 1975, the assessors noted that the house was boarded up and no one was living in it.
