Happy 4th!

Celebrate Independence Day by visiting the brand new Founders Online, just launched by the National Archives on June 13, 2013:

This free online tool brings together the papers of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison in a single website that gives a first-hand account of the growth of democracy and the birth of the Republic.

Estimated to total 175,000 documents when the project is complete, it will include transcribed, previously unpublished letters besides the published papers.  Researchers are able to search via author, recipient, time period (including by presidency), or subject.

Check out the video introducing Founders Online here.  This video is well worth your time to watch (and there is also some fife and drum corps music especially appropriate for the holiday!).
